An MP3 of excerpts from Don Coscarelli's appearance on radio program 'The Score' has been added under the multimedia section. Don was invited onto the program as part of a tribute to Phantasm Composer Fred Myrow. 'The Score' can be heard every other Saturday on 89.9 KBPS in Portland, Oregon.

The Phantasm V Film Cell offer and letter campaign are still going on and you can find more details at Phantasm5.com. Keep those beautiful letters coming!

If you've been wondering what A. Michael Baldwin has been up to lately - the answer is here! Michael recently produced/directed and was featured in a pilot for the show 'Conscious Horse, Conscious Rider' starring Gary Douglas. A three minute trailer for this pilot has surfaced and you can view it below.

This actually looks like a really interesting concept and we wish Michael all our best in getting the show picked up.

UPDATE: I've now got a higher resolution image of the DVD cover. Click here to see it.

You've got to wonder how some of this news slips under our radar undetected.

MGM Home Entertainment, in all of their infinite wisdom, has denied us a special edition for Phantasm: Oblivion in order to give us what they think we really want.... a new cover! Yes, it would seem that the home video distributor is or has re-issued the exact same disc they introduced almost eight years ago with a new lenticular cover.

Honestly, folks... I'm totally in the dark about this one. Retailers aren't listing this as a separate release which means it could be months away or already in stores. This "lenticular cover repackaging" of MGM titles is nothing new and frankly, just what we've come to expect. They pulled a similar trick with their 'Hail to the King' edition of Bubba Ho-Tep a few months ago. Same disc, new package.

I've dispatched a few e-mails looking for answers and when I have them, I'll pass them along. The artwork to your left comes straight from MGM who are officially calling this release the 'Phantasm IV (Special Lenticular Edition)'. Bizarre that the official website of Phantasm hasn't reported anything on this. More details later.

We've got a new interview posted with Mark Shostrom, the mastermind behind the gory makeup effects of Phantasm II & III.

It's always great when Phantasm alumni get to reunite on projects and this time it's Reggie/Gigi Bannister with P2 effects creator Robert Kurtzman for the goop guy's latest film 'The Rage'. It'll be making it's North American Premiere at the Hollywood Chinese Mann Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on October 19th as part of the Screamfest '07 line-up. Best of all, Kurtzman and Reggie/Gigi Bannister will be in attendance!

Reggie Bannister all gorified up in Robert Kurtzman's 'The Rage' (click to enlarge).

When we interviewed the Regman at the end of August, he had this to say about the film: "... it's so over-the-top violent that people are laughing at it. The smash-cuts from 'Saw', for example, Bob takes that and double-triples it down. So you're just going "Whoa! What the f*ck? When is this killing going to stop?!". It becomes funny at a certain point. It's going to be a great film." October 19th is a Saturday and the screening kicks off at 11 PM. For more information and ticket pricing, hit up the Screamfest '07 website.

Forum-member Natalie has brought to our attention that Reggie & Gigi Bannister will be appearing at the Chicago Horror Film Festival taking place October 5-7 in Illinois as special guests. You can find more details at Chicagohorrorfest.com.

They're appearing at the festival alongside Jeff Thomas who directed Reggie in his new film 'Fallen Angels', the cast of which is packed with a staggeringly high number of horror icons. You've got Reggie Bannister ('Phantasm', of course), Bill Mosely ('The Devil's Rejects'), Michael Berryman ('The Hills Have Eyes'), Kane Hodder (Multiple 'Friday the 13th's), R.A. Mihailoff ('Leatherface: TCM 3'), and Kevin MCarthy ('Invasion of the Body Snatchers'). Interested much? Learn more about 'Fallen Angels' at it's official website.

Ever wonder what Phantasm V co-writer Stephen Romano has been up to lately? He's developed a keen talent for making retro style 1970's movie posters! His first poster is for the raunchy new film 'Black Devil Doll'. I won't dare post this impoliticly correct yet awesome poster on this news page so if you'd like to see it, click the small thumbnail below. Romano is planning an entire book full of these and if they're anything like the poster below, count me in for a copy.

Reggie Bannister and his lovely wife Gigi 'Fast Elk' have just wrapped their efforts on the Amel "AJ" Figueroa helmed picture 'Hush'. In the film, Reggie plays 'Mr. Martino' and also helped out Gigi with the gory makeup effects. 'Hush' also features Tony Todd of 'Candyman' fame. You can see photos and get more information on the project at the Official MySpace page.

Following the sad news of Bruce Campbells departure from Bubba Nosferatu, the sequel to Don Coscarelli's cult-hit 2002 film, I stumbled upon the following comments made by Nosferatu performer Paul Giamatti. "I would really like to do that," Giamatti says. "Did you ever see Bubba Ho-Tep? Great movie. And that director [Don Coscarelli], I love that guy's movies.  All the Phantasm movies and stuff. But we are trying to do it." To read more about Bubba Nosferatu and Giamatti's comments on it, visit Rotten Tomatoes.
